Holy Family Children’s Center is a non-profit play
-based preschool licensed by the state of California and accredited with the National Academy of Early Childhood Education. Our school follows a Reggio-Emilia-inspired approach to learning and embraces
the values of respect, community, and family.
Established in August 1989, we are located at Holy Family Episcopal Church, in a renovated 1907 farmhouse against the backdrop of the
Pacific Ocean. The congregation of Holy Family Episcopal Church established the preschool as part of the church’s vision and mission to provide excellent education to preschoolers on the Coastside. Our
grounds include a traditional big red barn, playground, organic garden, outdoor stage, and open fields with grass and flowers.
Our flexible preschool program accommodates both full-day (7:30 a.m. to 6:00 pm) and half-day (7:30 a.m. to 12:30 pm.) schedules for fully potty
-trained children ages 3 to 6 years. We offer the following schedule options:
Monday to Friday: full day or half day
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: full day or half day
Tuesday, Thursday: full day or half day
Our curriculum is theme-oriented and activities are designed to provide our students with opportunities for self expression through:
• Art and Music • Discovery • Quantities and Measuring • Small Muscle Development
• Sensory Experience • Large Motor Skills • Literature
Planned activities are presented in an experiential way with teachers acting as facilitators. Teachers are also essential in providing
spontaneous curriculum inspired by a child, such as a question, outside discovery, or reading a book a child has chosen.
