Holy Family has a long – standing relationship with Coast side Catholic Worker, which began when Mike and Kathy Niece were, invited to Holy Family by Mary Atwood our interim Vicar in 2000. What began, as a talk to encourage people to help and to educate people about the population of poor people in our community became a monthly produce give away, a blanket and hooded sweatshirt drive, a backpack drive, and the graceful groceries program.

For the people who began this relationship, the vision remains the same: To collaboratively work with Coast side Catholic Worker to accomplish our desire to serve those in need on the coast.

For the past 6 years Holy Family has collaborated with Coastside Catholic Worker to give out produce the 4th Saturday of every month.

For example in March 2006 we served approximately 40 families which accounts for 160 – 320 people taking into consideration the average Latino family has between 4 and 8 people in it.

Don’t forget…

When you’re grocery shopping don’t forget to pick up the following items:

Diapers (sizes 3 – 4 – 5 –6)
Canned Tuna
Whole Kernel Corn ( No Cream Style Please)
Dried Pinto Beans
Plain Tomato Sauce (not spaghetti sauce)

You can drop them off in the Graceful Groceries basket which is blessed on the 3rd Sunday of everyone month just in time for the Produce Give Away the following week.
