The Rev. Michael P. Arase-Barham, D.Min.  Vicar (senior

priest)

Vicar Michael strives to love God and to love those among whom he serves. We almost always find him in hiking boots, because he has the soul of a pilgrim after having made several sacred journeys to various holy sites, including the camino to Santiago de Compostela (Spain). Ordained to Holy Orders in 2008, Vicar Michael served as an associate priest in the Diocese of Hawaii before returning to the Bay Area when we called him to be our priest in 2013.  In addition to Holy Family, Vicar Michael serves as priest for our partner church, Good Shepherd, Belmont. Prior to becoming a priest, he worked briefly in residence life at Saint Mary's College of California. In 2012, he earned a Doctor of Ministry (from CDSP), and the rich experiences of hospitality he has received as a pilgrim from folks who live and volunteer along the camino, along with his studies, continue to inform his ministry.   He is an alum of the Divinity School at Duke University, North Carolina (M.Div.), and Millsaps College, Jackson, Mississippi (B.A. in Religious Studies). We love that he gets excited about the pumpkin ice cream we serve each year at the annual Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival, and the ways many ways he challenges and leads us to deepen our faith, and to be living examples of Christ's love for our neighbors and one another.  Email:  vicar@holyfamilyhmb.org
