It is hard to think about the coming school year when we are just starting to enjoy our summers! To make sure that all the children in our community are ready for school and have what they need to learn. Holy Family Episcopal Church is partnering with Coastside Hope and working with a number of Coastside organizations including: the Episcopal Impact fund of the Diocese of California, Abundant Grace Coastside Worker, the National Charity League Coastside Chapter, the Half Moon Bay Library, the Friends of the Library, Community Methodist Church, Coastside Lutheran Church, Coastside Jewish Community, St. Vincent de Paul Society Our Lady of the Pillar, the lions club, the Rotary club, the Coastside Women’s Club, the Coastside Mothers Club and other community groups to raise funds, purchase school supplies and backpacks for local children who cannot afford them. Last year we provided a record 521 children with backpacks. We expect a similar number or more this year. Please join us and pass this information on to other friends or coworkers whom you think would be interested in supporting our Coastside children. If you know of children who could benefit from this program, have them contact Coastside Hope to sign up.Donate
First and foremost we need funds to buy backpacks and supplies If you would like to donate money, please either click on the donate button to donate via Paypal Or send checks to: Holy Family Episcopal Church P.O. Box 215 Half Moon Bay, CA 94019-0215 650-726-0506 Please indicate “BACKPACKS” on the memo line. Holy Family manages the money for the school backpack drive, 100% of the funds donated goes directly to this program to buy backpacks and school supplies.Volunteer
We always need help as we prepare each year. This ranges from taking inventory of supplies we have on hand, to shopping for school supplies and more. We will also need help with stuffing the backpacks and distributing them. The stuffing and distribution will occur over several days to make it easier on parents to pick up the backpacks with children. The stuffing will occur at the Coastside Hope warehouse Tuesday August 6th, this is a change from previous years. We will set up the warehouse in the late afternoon and early evening of Friday August 2nd. The distribution will occur at Coastside Hope’s office in El Granada on Wednesday the 7th of August and Thursday the 8th.
